At least one person has been killed and several injured by a huge bomb blast close to the Oslo offices of Norway PM Jens Stoltenberg. BBC News Sky news Little in the way of details at the moment, news ongoing.
Children's camp? Not really. That thing at Utøya is a camp for the youth part of the Norwegian Labor party. Most of the participants are more or less adults. The labor party also have it's headquarters very close to where the bomb went off. Seems very targeted to me. edit: This is the major things so far: Police have more or less confirmed that is was a bomb. Several people are confirmed dead. The government is evacuated to shelters. Most of downtown Oslo is shut down. Airports are still running as usual. (Yay!) edit2: The shooter at the "children's camp" arrived to the island by boat dressed as a Police officer claiming to be there to guard because of the bomb in downtown. The boat used to transport people back and forth to the mainland is missing at the moment.
At this stage it seems possible that it's some ultra-right wing nutter or disgruntled egit, closer to Timothy McVeigh than the usual allah worshipping nutter.
Who would attack Norway ? I mean it's a peaceful country.... terrorists really s****. I heard about 2 dead and several injuries, on the radio.
Maybe it's a Prius with an electrical problem again. Easy target? Lots of naive people around here... It could be some sort of revenge for the heavy bombing campaign in Libya.
@ Spec, could be, but this seems more like a long term plan being executed. Normally, a right wing nutter wouldn't have the resources to attack multiple places at the same time.
I don't get why people keep saying this. Norway went to Afghanistan, Norway is bombing Libya. People seem to have this image of hot blondes rolling around in snow and little kids in huge wooly jerseys.

Well reports are coming in that it looks like this guy, Anders Behring Breivik, might have acted alone. So Spec, it looks as if you are correct that this is an inside nutjob.
