    Hey guys,

I was wondering if there was a way to make a PC automatically turn on once it's pluggged in? I'm setting up a server for my parents and wondering if this was possible? So that if the power ever goes out, once the power comes back on, the server is up and running without any user input.

Yes, there is an option in the BIOS.

"Resume last state after power loss"

Provided the PC was on when the power went out, It'll fire up again when it returns.

Okay, thanks buddy! Would this option be available on a 5-yr-old P4 server do you think? (I'm buying one off of someone secondhand to use as a home server in my parents' house)

May be, this feature is motherboard/BIOS version dependent.

Most have had that option since the 90's, but it is up to the board manufacturer to implement in bios. If you can get the model number of board before buying you could look in manual if that feature supported.
