So, pretty straight forward; I've been thinking about picking up one of these 5" HDMI LCD screens. I'd like to use it for viewing my music library etc whilst in game, and I'm planning on mounting it around the edges of my monitor. Is there any reason that it wouldn't work with my GPU? They are only £23, and simply powered by USB, which I can grab straight from my monitor output. They are also touchscreen, but I wouldn't be using that feature, so not worried about them being resistive vs capactive. I'm also not expecting IPS like screen quality. Anyone else tried anything like this?
Interesting little part. There are some comments on Amazon about it, maybe they're helpfull. tis Screen on Amazon
No idea, but I ordered an HDMI to TFT 40 pins driver from Adafruit a few days ago: https://www.adafruit.com/products/2218 I'm gonna use it to build a retrogaming handheld using an Odroid-W and a PSP screen (from my bricked PSP).

the touchscreen doesn't work, I presume because its using the gpio header for that rather than usb, either that or the usb cable i'm using is purely a power one the screen itself works fine on windows for display
I currently have a Logitech G510 keyboard and eventually want to upgrade to a mechanical keyboard but I've always had a keyboard with an LCD display (or Z10 speakers with the same display) and really like that function. Would I be able to use this screen to make a more elaborate screen for monitoring etc, I would plan to mount it in a custom made wooden frame and use it on my main pc with windows 7/10. Sorry if I'm high jacking and after re-reading Parges original post what I wish to do isn't much different really.
it works as a hdmi monitor with a resolution of 800x480, the touch part doesn't work over usb, it is designed for the raspberry pi 26 pin gpio port, if anyone has any ideas about how to convert the gpio connector to usb, it may be possible to use the touch capability I've currently got it connected to the hdmi port on my laptop, and set it as an extended screen, powered by usb
It looks like one has the HDMI coming out of the top/bottom and the other has the HDMI coming out of the side. I want one with the HDMI coming our of the bottom so that when I mount it I don't see the cables, the one Parge linked too seems to be the one I would need but wondered if there were any other differences.
the one I have has it coming out of the top I have an idea for mounting mine using right angle cables to connect it up eventually
Finally got my screen today after some despatch and delivery delays. Looks good, a little grainy but I don't suppose anymore can be expected. Just need to understand how to get multi displays working properly with different res screens. Can't get afterburner to fit properly which is a little disappointing as that's what I primarily wanted to use it for. Seeing as it's a crimbo pressie it needs to go back in the box until the 25th.
