Just built my new computer and the BIOS shows everything is recognised. Put Windows 8 OEM in the disc drive and the blue logo comes up. It stays like that for a while then a blue screen flashes quickly (before I took out an old hdd it came up with windows 8 recovery not working). Then after that it resets and tries again.

    Any idea what to do?

The message that pops up is

    Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

The operating system couldn't be loaded because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors

    File:\windows\system32\drivers\sdbus.sys
    Error Code:0xc0000098

Hmmm... to be sure, you did a clean install, right?

Sounds like the hdd you've got in there already has a installation of windows on it, but since the hardware has changed it can't be used.

Are you trying to install a fresh copy of windows? If so, make sure that your optical drive is set as first boot device in the bios and press any key when prompted. Or is the error message coming up when booting from the DVD?

Do you have an sdcard reader plugged in? Maybe using one of the usb mobo headers? Try unplugging it and see if it'll continue with the install.

Just had a look at the disc to find 3 scratches all along the disc on it :/. My nail catches on them as well

Is there another way to install it on there using the same Microsoft code? As I don't want to have to wait a week for an RMA

Unplug all the sata cables and drives and then reconnect dvdrom and the drive you want to install to and test again.

Also make sure your ram is seated propperly.

    So it's a new PC!
Try Windows 7.. we need to know if it's something wrong with Windows 8 not liking your computer, or hardware fault.
