Long time since I have dealt with modding. It is time for a new case. This time it will be a computer desk.

As always, I work without a final plan. I just have a general vision :)

I've started from the top surface of the countertop. I've glued four oak planks with a total width of 60 cm. Ultimately, I would like to receive the white, smoked oak color. So to spice up the surface I've added some inlay in the shape, you don't guess by looking at the title, lizards.

I've cut out the individual elements, this time with a fine beech wood:

I've tried at this stage to deep-stain the wood. Unfortunately, the color not sufficiently penetrated the wood :( I'll worry about that later.

Now I had to mill the space in the countertop to paste inlays.

You can see both: the traced outline, milled channel and already embedded element.

Two days later, I had the inlay finished.

There is still sanding and leveling the surface.

Hey, I hear ya about not modding for a while.

Anyways, I dig the inlays, good job.

One question, though, what is the setup going to look like (ie, componet placement, intake/exhaust fan placement, wire management ideas, etc). Are you going with something like L3P or something else?

Maybe it's funy. But I really don't know now. I want to place a full motherboard inside. No watercooling. That's for sure.

Now I want to make some progress which doesn't need exact component placement.

And than maybe search for some sponsors. Which isn't easy, especially in Poland.

    Now some more work progress.

I want to make desk countertop to be in a wedge shape. That's why I've added the triangular edge bands. Then cut them lightly.

And then I've sanded them. (Oh, how I do not like this dust).

I've "merged" some pvc in the edge. At the moment it's just an operating test. I wonder what color would be the best here :)

    Thanks guys :)

    Some progress for today.

Success! I was able to precisely determine the location of the motherboard.

It fits the highest part of the countertop.

Careful there... There's a lot of GPU cards on the market that stick up way above the I/O bracket.

Thank you for that info. I think I will have about 2-3 cm more space. That will have to do.
There is a lot of cpu fans much higher too. But I'll have to settle for lower.

Some pictures from gluing. I'm using wood biscuits - lamellas.

Deck already took final shape of the wedge. I've sanded it initially too.

Thanks :) Of course I will stick to my "old" plan.

Now I must add a leg.

Interesting concept. Watch out for "that person". -The dumb fat one that sits on stuff.
If you don't know one of those people, then this will be awesome.

I believe I can avoid "that person" :)

I will give him my chair.

You're a braver man than I, I would have added some bracing under that seat to support my 14 stone weight. :D

In order to properly shape it I have glued several layers of wood. Already it is tiring. And as I think about grinding and shaping ....

Today arrived a secondary touch screen - it will be ejected from the side table.
