Looks like he's binning 2600Ks then, judging by the prices, he's sold to gullible buyers.

Edit: Just realised the prices are in dollars not pounds.

Binning - Selecting chips based on how they perform so, as an example, my i7 970 is probably a 980X or a 990X that didn't fully meet the requirements so didn't get in the 980X or 990X bin.

I thought it was just me that that had all the jokes.

This is why i use forums so that i dont end up with buying dodgy cpus and stuff.

Not that id oc a chip to those temps anyway as you all say.

I think the TJ Max comment is supposed to mean that as long as your cooling can keept it at TJ Max or below it will be stable.

But then of course it's stable, he's passing 1.5V through it for Chist's sake :hehe: Could have probably stabilised a collapsing star with that much voltage lol

he's saying at 5.1GHz, the chip runs at 100c.

Tj-max for these chips are 100c, but recommended is no higher than 70c. so he's killing the chip.

not sure about SNB, Lynnfield throttles at TjMax of 100c. i know because i've overclocked one on stock coolers. (not the one in my rig)

i just read in the blurb/drivel this guy wrote "BONUS GAMING MODE of up to 5.3Ghz" if it needs 1.5v or whatever to do 5.1Ghz, I dread to think what it would need a 5.3Ghz
