Thought it would be nice to compliment the guitarists' thread with one for the real musicians Think of this as a place to talk drums, whether it's to share your opinions or ideas, post vidz of your playing, or post pics of your gear for others to drool over. Even though I'm a photographer now, about 15 years of my life were given to drumming and music - my degree is in music, and all my qualifications and experience are in music. At one point I owned what I considered to be THE most beautiful drum kit on the face of the planet: a DW Custom "Lavender to Natural Burst" shell pack (10,12,14,16,22) with black fittings, a Pearl Omar Hakim signature snare, and TRX cymbals. At this time I was endorsed by TRX cymbals so gigged my kit with plenty publicity for them as you can see. I haven't really played drums much in the last two years since selling that kit however I'm sorely tempted to buy a new drum kit and go back to it. I really miss it. Anybody else got stuff to share?
Arrrrhhhhh How could you sell something that you loved doing, i strongly recommend you go buy some more. Drums are up there with guitars and are a favourite of mine, i'll just be one of the ones that drools over them, as i am just a spectator.
Can't wait to move house later this year and then get back into playing the drums. A one bedroom flat in central London isnt condusive to drum playing at the best of times, let alone adding a 3 month year old into the mix. A 3 bedroom house awaits so should have a boys room for the pc and a leccy drum kit to go in. Not kept up to date with what's available but had a play around on a couple of Rolands a little while back and mesh heads seem a must.

Or a flat above a little old lady! - my kit is at my parents for now, I can recommend the roland v-drums - pricy and very good, but just not the same. I'm hoping a house move in the summer will give me more space and fewer neighbours.

I played drums for a number of years, although wasn't the best I have to admit. I never owned anything special in the way of kit, just some £450 kit I picked up when I first started. Unfortunately I find it nigh impossible to play now because I have problems with my hands. After 15min my knuckles begin to hurt and my fingers cramp-up, it's incredibly painful, and I'm not entirely sure what the problem is. I've been tested for rheumatoid arthritis, which came back negative, but I'm convinced it's arthritis of some kind, as there's a history in my family, with both my mum and auntie suffering with it. I also struggle to hold my hands in the cup shape whilst swimming, and they even hurt holding plates for too long whilst washing-up. I also have problems with my knees, not great, and I'm only 27 (had the problems since I was 17). If I have the space and money in a few years I may buy myself another kit (or maybe an electric kit for the peace of my gf), just to mess about on.
I had a Mapex M birch and then a Saturn for a while but had to sell due to space. I am now rocking a Roland electric kick which is missing a bass pedal. I moved into a flat, and while I never hear anyone else because its a new build with plenty of insulation I don't think I could subject my downstairs neighbours to an acoustic set. To be honest my drums haven't been getting the love they should and have been missing that bass pedal for way too long, but I have never set aside the funds to replace it as "more important" stuff comes first
Always wanted to get into playing the drums. Just that its not the most practical insturments to get into.

He's like the real-life-animal (from the muppets). On steroids. There are parts where either his cam or my display are too slow to show the continuous motion of his hands.
I LOVE dw kits. we had 2 at uni, but neither where as pretty as yours. I'm not a drummer though I'm a bassist, but I did a music degree too
I'm a drummer, but after losing my house i've found myself with nowhere to play, so my kit lies stripped in my gran's basement. :/
I played the drums when I was secondary school. Did that for a few years and got drum lessons and ended up picking Music as a gcse so I could do more of it. I picked it up quick and was making solid progress, but as soon as I left school I stopped playing. Never got around to getting a kit sadly. And now it's been so long I would suck at it I expect. I do miss it
I learned to play from my dad when only 5 years old,my ultimate kit as a teenager was the premier black shadow and favourite all time drummer Cozy powell.
I love the drums! But don't currently own my own set, I only have guitars which I've been playing about four years. I've wanted to get into drumming properly for a while though. Sory for the noob question, but can anyone recommend some good starter/cheap/bundle kits at all?
Drummers? *GUILTY* This is my 1970's Premier Resonator. The last good drums to be made in Britain by a major company.
