I have been trying to stream videos from http locations(mostly dropbox) in my browser. I noticed this was possible with mkv files, however, when I try to stream avi files, it forces a download. This is the player which appears for mkv files: I think that if I can identify the player I may be able to fix this. I have searched by image on google and it returned a couple of posts which suggested that it was the google chrome default player, I do not use google chrome. Thanks.

Obviously you are using Maxthon as a browser. If you load the same page up in Firefox/Chrome/IE does it still use the same player?
Default HTML 5 video. I assume you are using IE 9 if you aren't using FF or Chrome? I just noticed you are using Maxthon, I read the first post then replied. But the same still stands. It will display essentially the same in all HTML 5 browsers, but only certain file types are supported. Note how the (mime) type on your properties window is video/webm, this is an open source container for media files. Webm was built open the MKV container which is why that file type is supported. If you inspect the element it will be a <video> tag with the URL of the video.

HTML5 player should play m4v/mp4 with x.264/?audio and ?vorbis codecs as well. Should support whatever IE does since maxthon use same trident render engine.
