Okay well i don't care about the dx11 crud and stuff because most of my games i own are dx10. I have 250 max that shipped to spend on a new gpu. I will do crossfirex or sli. One thing i was thinking of doing was cf 5750? or 4870s? What do you think would be the best gpu solution and i game at a res of 1240x1080 i believe it is
Assuming your stated res is kind of accurate, it is, comparatively, very low (& there's the issue that not all games can use CF effectively or, indeed, at all), you're going to gain very little by having 2 gfx cards - other than using more electricity/generating more heat. Now, that's not to say that, with a higher res monitor, 2x4870s in CF won't be somewhat more powerful than 2x5750 (if the game supports CF of course), which in turn is slightly more powerful than the 5850 (which obviously doesn't need the game to support CF as it's a single card, but appears to be above your US$250 by about US$40 new - though i've only checked NewEgg)... ...however looking at consistent fps in games (again the CF issue), running costs (since it would use less electricity) & in the ability to upgrade 'if' you bought a better monitor at some point (since you're only using one 16x pcie slot - 'if' you ever needed it, adding a 2nd 5850 when prices are more favourable would be significantly faster than 2x4870s), imho the 5850 would be the better choice atm given your set-up.
He's already broken one 5850 somehow. This is about the third thread he's posted about graphics cards and they've all been pretty similar.
Oh lol, I just read his previous threads. You should still get a 5850, just because your Powercolor broke doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with other 5850s.
I had an asus 5850 direct cu http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...121375&cm_re=asus_5850-_-14-121-375-_-Product and it was amazing. Great card, could overclock to 900mhz. Could actually go farther but there was no need. Took it back because I thought my old 4850 was bad. turns out it was my ram.
