This is incredible! Lamborghini donated a police vehicle to the Italian Police! Warning!Lots of Pictures of a Lamborghini!
They've been doing that for years, nice bit of publicity for them The Polizia already have a "standard" Gallardo, I actually saw it at the Lambo factory last year.
Now that is awesome. Bit pointless though surely? Isn't it the case that everywhere (except the states, judging by what I see on bravo) when a police chase gets too fast they just let the guy go and stick on him with the chopper so they don't force him to go faster and endanger more lives? This mark is usually just over 100 if its on a motorway and much much less on smaller roads. So really they would do ok with a 1.6 corsa . Does anyone else thing that the lights look like a netgear router/switch? Edit: Now I have read it through it seems the speed is mainly used for getting to crimes and emergencies rather than chases down buggers. Which makes sense
In my experience no one goes at less than 90mph on the Italian motorways anyway, so they'd never catch anyone This car's really more of a publicity stunt for Lamborghini.
Actually its true in the states you get the choper on you if you run, but then again they also put spike strips out. In the US there are a few fast cars in some county's. Texas has been known to have a few dodge vipers gts coupes on patrol. 200+mph capable car, then you have long island thats been known to have a few camaro's with hot engines in them for the pesky speeders in certain sections, PA has mustang GT's. Different county's buy different cars, even charger srt8's get commissioned, and that's a ~180mph sedan. All these cars are used for is to bring fear on speeders. Not to say that ppl have not ever gotten away from the police.
Pretty much the same as this side of the puddle then, we use spike strips and the traffic cops often have Volvo T5s and there are a few police Imprezas and Evos around. Back in the '80s the Essex traffic police had a Ford RS200 for a short while!
I love the Gallardo, but thats thats awful looking, especially the interior! The position of the sat nav etc has not been integrated v well. If they are going to give such a car to the police they might as well make it look good!
If the way the italian half of my family drives is anything to go by, i can see why theyd have it. Although i can't stand the colours :S
That is very cool! And seeing the picture with the doors opens reminds me of a funny picture I saw once regarding "lamborghini doors" Had a picture of a honda civic (pure ricer) with lambo doors, and the lambo in the back with normal doors, then it said "Lambo doors, so over-rated, lambo's dont even have em anymore" LOL
