As some of you might know we are doing quite a cool demo machine for the i40 lan party and there are two sponsors willng to give us some 480GTX's to put in the machine.

Question is how many would you like to see vote NOW! :thumb:

I voted for 3 because there have been some tests about on the t'internet that show the cards are amazing in tri-SLI and Quad is just a little too much for anyone :D

4 would be good to see, if only to see a watercooling loop capable of dealing with 1200W+ of heat. I think you're going to need a bigger boat!

Shame quadfire drivers are poo though!

I voted for just 1 as the 480 is uncompetitive both in terms of raw performance, performance per 3 and performance per W.

Instead, I think you should build a dual Xeon rig with 6-7 single-slot watercooled GTX 280/285s

Now that I would like to see (and preferrably not hear!)

But I voted for 4 GTX480 for the sheer grunt.

    4 GTX480's, Quad-SLI Cheesecake...

And 6 Monsta rads to cool the beasts!! You could create one hell of a setup tbh.

Maybe give the rig away at i40 to a lucky winner? :thumb:

If you're going to push for GPGPU, fully grab that Gigabyte UD9 and 7 GPUs, each watercooled on its own 240 rad

I just had an awesome thought..

Money no object you say? How about phase change cooling the CPU and however many GPUs you have?

I'm sure you guys could fabricate something that would allow that. See how far you can push those GTX480s...and prove that they're no longer hot ;)
