Game: CSS IP is 85.236.102.75:27215 Server is for testing purposes. It will replace the current CSS server when it's properly working and configured. Just to be clear: The server is Linux. Linux is a new thing for MPUK. The admin panel is ported, but there are issues with what mods work and what crash it. I can't just go and whack any old mod on through the control panel as I don't know how badly things could go awry. There's no FTP access, so I can't configure it manually and see what does or does not work. Basically, there's not a lot I can do. This whole server is essentially beta. MPUK have just been kind enough to put it up now because of this lag problem. When I find out more about what can be done, what can't, and why, I'll be able to find a solution. When I find a solution we'll have admin mods. Until this happens it's a test server; running in independent of the normal server. This test server is vanilla. And people are going to shoot you with AWPS. As with all things server related, don't hold your breath. It's a test server, it's in beta, and I don't know how far along everything is on the server backend. Or, really, anything On the bright side, the performance seems good.
A big thumbs up from me reg is kissable and gives a better, more even, feel to the server. Plus with awps on for the day.. <3
So it turns out the linux binary for mani doesn't play nice with the patched/hotfixed kernel that provides 1000fps. So someone needs to release an updated binary, or compile mani for that particular kernel (well run a checkout anyway).
Essentially that someone at MPUK is going to have to go and mess about to get it to work, just for us. They aren't actually selling these servers yet, we're getting to beta it.
There is a problem when running anything beta. It all takes time, and one change could make other parts not work. I guess there could not be an ETA given, taking my comments. Admin is essential, but even under beta there are ways to ensure the server is admin'd, alas it may be slower than actual admin online and live. Like all things, you may have to put up with some inconveniances whilst the testing is done. I guess thats not too much of a problem really. Any input/bugs you may find as players would be very usefull, so take time to have a play and report here good points and bad.
Can you use something other than mani? or is there no other choice from MPUK? Keep up the good work Rogan I am sure you will have it sorted soon! If you really need admin you could go for some of the very simple match admins if you can actually get it onto the server just for the mean time! The other option is some gets the very boring job of sitting in front of HLSW for ages!
IF there is any way the AWP can be ditched, that would be cool. Some maps are ruined by the AWP. thanks
Public heroes: Welcome to the game. Prepare to die. Lots. I'm only going to say it once (maybe). The AWP is a part of the game. It's there to make it hard. I don't care how much you die because someone is shooting you with an AWP, if you don't like it, don't play CS:S. These "No AWP" servers are for pussies. Learn how to play the whole game, not most of it. It's like trying to learn how to drive without actually learning how to emergency brake, you'll get along fine for a while, but the first time you need to perform one, you're screwed. Seriously though, this is good. When I had them, my servers ran on a Linux box with a custom admin panel and CMS (although that never really mattered because I wrote, modified and installed all the configs and plugins manually) and they played really well. I'll pop on sometime this week and check out the performance
no awp/autosnipers is better for the server, if this is going to be a server which will eventually take over the old, best to stick with that.... i don't recognise some of the people who post in this thread... however i am sure those who are regulars on the old server (if knew about this forum) would agree... and I'm not saying this because I can't use the weapon or crap at the game. If this is an alternative server, then the differences wouldn't really matter as the players have a choice.
OK I have a big list of SM plugins that are already installed. From said list I've pulled a few favourites: Dead Alltalk: http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=673586 Restrictions: http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=950174<<< Awaiting upload.
