LOL Take the money and run

Do you have a secret escape fund? Seemingly nearly one in ten of us have a secret stash of on average £7500 according to the Money Advice Service. They surveyed 2000 people in relationships on this.

So have you got one if so how much is stashed. I have had a look at my secret stash, with her permission of course, and all it contains is an IOU,

 

My desire to have the wife do all of the taxes far outweighs the desire to hide anything away.

I feel like the £7500 average could be quite misleading though with such a low sample size.

 

I have a grab bag with a brand new identity and funds to start a new life, does that count?

 

Having spent my entire savings on a wedding in May and already being seperated I wish I kept the money secret.

So once I'm back on my feet I will be arranging a secret stash.

 

Interestingly yes, but most of it gets spent on gifts for her, kids and holidays... And maybe rigs she thinks cost £200 but are missing a "0"!!

 

One in ten of us are hiding 7500 quid... where did they do this research Ascot?

I try and keep a couple of hundred quid in cash in the safe, not that its a secret from my G/F (as she keeps nicking money out of it to buy the groceries!)

I can't imagine it ever getting to be thousands for a number of reasons, not least that I'm not stupid and that I'm pretty sure the house insurance only covers about a grand in cash!

 

I keep a substancial amount back in my business account.

Not to sound negative, but if i ever divorced, he can't take money away from the business.

 

I've got about £8 in 5p pieces in my draw at work, does that count?

My wages hit my personal account and more or less immediately get transferred into our joint account, less my overdraft and phone bill, where it is managed impeccably by the Mrs so if either of us have a hidden money pot, it's her...

 

We have separate finances with a joint account for mortgage/bills etc. We only contribute £600pm, the rest is our own.

Iv'e got a bit stashed away should i need it (few thousand) its always good to have for honest reasons or otherwise...

 

Nope...a small varying stash of 50~150 for boys night out things* as otherwise I don't even have an account of my own.

*not that that happends very often

Do I have £7500 stashed away somewhere? Of course not, and if I did have it spare, it wouldn't be stashed away, it would be sitting on my driveway in 4 wheeled, AWD form.

 

I've got about a K stored in obscure but resaleable motherboards.

Tis survey remonds me of whe the Icelandic group took over at West ham and a survey the did showed them the average West Ham fan was earning 60k a year

So given the 'fact' I earn 60k a year I have managed to stash away as much as Kronos

 

My feeling is: if you feel the need to keep a stash fund hidden from your partner, it's time to re-evaluate the relationship.

 

I think it's always prudent to have a stash of 'oh ****'/rainy-day money... whether that stash is hidden from everyone or not is another thing...

That said I [currently] don't... have any 'oh ****' money, hidden or otherwise... I don't have any money, period... If I did I probably would take the money and run...
