    how would one go about downloading a youtube video im trying to save some election stuff that is dissapering from sites any help would be appreciated

    I usually lift them out of the Firefox cache, just wait until the whole video's downloaded, leave that tab open and navigate to:

    C:\Documents and Settings\steve\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\6qreulwk.default\Cache

    Obviously you'll have a slightly different directory, sort by date and pick out the biggest file at the bottom, copy, paste and save as .flv

    A bit of a mess about but I like the control it gives you.

    You could use the greaseMonkey add on for firefox.
