In a spin-off of the highly successful countdown to 360 GPUs thread started in late 2008 we thought it would be a good idea to start a CPU countdown thread.

The target for this thread will be to add another 1,000 CPUs to the Custom PC folding team.

    As rules are as follows:

    1. Subtract one CPU from the countdown if you add a standard CPU client.

    or

    2. Subtract two CPUs from the countdown if you add an SMP CPU client.

When you add more CPU clients, subtract the number from the total and post the new total in size '7', colour 'red', in 'bold', at the bottom of your post.

To provide some continuity between this thread and the one on the old Custom PC forums I'll summarise as follows:

After 2 pages of discussion the countdown had reached:

    551

with i24mm5731n being the last user to add an unspecified CPU.

Ok seeing as I posted it on CPC after this clone thread was created I will add it here too. Also can I request that the poster above me use the right formatting on the number for quick reference to future posters, and also to look less like a lazy SOB. It's not hard; highlight text, select size, select colour, select bold, click save. Please?

2 cores from a Xeon X5365 (3.0GHz)... I'm trying to add another Xeon into my machine, but having issues booting. I'll revisit it again soon and potentially add another 4 cores.

Just realized the new work machines I'm building images for are packing E8400's... this is going to be fun.

Will be updating regularly as I make my way through them.
