    Haha, yeah I'm sure that is the reason, sounds legit...

    I wonder how many lower ranked people at MS argued with the boss that this 'feature' was madness BTW, I imagine them carefully arguing, thinking the boss might not know or might have gone insane.

    it was good idea in theory, but MS made a total has of addressing the piracy/security concerns [having it enabled by default originally didn't help]... and like most MS stuff generally failed to convince people it was something they'd want to have/use...

    ...plus it only worked with Windows Phone iirc so that meant a potential user-base of 6 people...

    5 people, my windows 'backup' phone never gets used and now i have an android replacement for that, so count me out.
