So I've had the new rig (sig) in place for a couple of months now with everything running at stock. The temptation now is to begin overclocking. However, I don't really know what I'm doing with more modern chips as my last rig was an E6400 (2.13Ghz stock at 3.2Ghz) on an Asus Rampage Formula board.

A google search brings so much up that I'm wary of bad information and doing something very wrong, so wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of a decent guide plus any hints or tips? It's air cooled with this.

    Many Thanks,

    Plastic

It's much easier now. Up the multiplier, keep the cache speeds at reasonable levels (don't keep the ratio on auto!) and adjust the CPU voltage to suit. Boom, done.

Also, as you're running a DC chip, try lowering VCCIN (input voltage) as it often results in more stable overclocks at lower CPU voltages. Yeah, I know it is odd that less is more, but it's true. :)

That's the very basic gist of it, I can go into far greater detail if you need it.
