So with the impending arrival of my 1.3kg 1080 Ti Strix, I'm thinking about the saggage:

    11:25 onwards - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50Alj8iizz0

I'm looking around for a solution but there seems to be really limited options available in the UK. MNPCTech do a lovely CNC machined brace for ~$45 plus shipping to the UK; however, there's seems to be few other options other than crappy perspex clones of the MNPCTech offering through eBay.

I'm not too concerned for the longevity of the motherboard's PCI-E socket as I'll likely upgrade before any long lasting damage is realised; however, the GPU I expect to get quite a few years from. Plus.... aesthetics.....

One other option I've explored is using carbon fibre rod or tube, from kite flying hobby shops, cut to size and used as a prop. It'll be under a tenner and would suit the build but not 'mounted' and secured as is my preference.

Anyone bother to brace their heavy cards or am I just being too particular? If so, what solution did you opt for?

My gpu block is solid copper and I've mounted it vertically, so needed something to prop it up. I fashioned some pillars from aluminium angle strips. It's in this here thread near the bottom

That's a nice solution and similar to the idea I had with carbon tubing, which I can profile to fit the contour of the gpu.

Oooo that's nice. I'd seen something similar somewhere recently, but it was bigger and more triangular. Can't for the life of me think where. Possibly a custom mod somewhere here.

    That bracket's a neat idea.

The main reason I have my case in "desktop" orientation is to give my graphics card an easier time.

Might have to pick up one of these as well, my 980Ti Classified weighs the equivalent of a small car with its waterblock and my current acrylic tubing solution is not the most attractive option.

The limit above which you have to pay VAT is £15 (£39 for gifts), Import Duty starts at £135.
So at $49.99 it is well above the limit at and you may end up paying.

However if they bother to look at the declared value or not depends on the company that handles delivery in the UK (with Royal Mail for example it is random, with Parcelforce it is guaranteed, fees for charging you also vary).

Nope, no import duty buddy. MNPCTech are awesome. Ship fast and package well.

The quality is out of this world. Not a single burr or imperfection in the finish.
