Looking for support on a Nokia mobile phone.

The LCD goes dim after leaving the phone on for a while. It's not a screensaver. But switching the phone off and back on again temporarily alleviates the issue for a short while.

Anyone experience this and know of a fix?

Depending on the phone I'd start by checking all the ribbon cables are connected tightly.

Phone has no ribbon cables. Only contacts points.

The LCD is hardwired onto the PCB.

I'm thinking it's the capacitors or one of the circuits which simply run out of juice causing the LCD to fade after a while.

If someone has any experience of this with a possible fix, I'd be keen to know about it.

have you checked all the settings could it be a "blank" screensaver or when it goes blank when you press any buttons does it still not respond?

It's not that. The LCD fades gradually till you can't see anything apart from backlight. Phone still working.

3310 is that not an old phone?

why are you wanting to fix it as its so old you can pick up a cheap new phone on pay as you go from carphone warehouse and they phones are always unlocked even if you get the pay as you go the sim is out of the box so its unlocked.

    Thanks man.

Bit-Tech needs to be more adventurous.

I'm trying to fix it *because* it is broken.

Nah, screen is fine. Don't need a screen. Used a backup screen from another phone and problem still persists. LCD display fading after being on for a short while.

In that case it's the power caps on the board.

Ditch it & start another project.

There is no inner flex cable. LCD is attached directly to PCB.
The only way to try a different screen is to change the PCB itself, but that means it becomes another phone.
