Since they've clearly used the Civ V engine for this I'm half disappointed, because I wanted to see even better looking and more detailed units/worlds. However, when Civ V came out the multiplayer was utterly unplayable after 240 turns because of horrendous memory leaks in the game and poor AI. Since that was fixed (about a year after launch) the engine has been as smooth as butter, so perhaps it's a good thing that they've stuck with it after all!

If it uses Civ V engine, maybe we'll see it under Linux since day zero.

Still play AC to this day, absolutely incredible game that from what I'm hearing didn't do too well.

Here's to hoping this is a worthy successor!

AC was incredible. why didn't it do well?

the modular units were the the best thing.. i was surprised it wasn't adopted by future installations of Civ

not kept up with more recent civ's (i.e. from 2 onwards) but sank hundreds of hours into alpha centauri - loved that game, it's unit upgrade system, it's tech tree, it's story and all the different policies and endings.

i'm curious/worried about this pre-order DLC as you could always customise your sandbox games parameters, plus terraforming let you alter the landscape at will - hope DLC is more tiles/different palates more than limiting map editor.

According to the April announcement, it will run on Steam OS (so in extend Linux), while supports Mantle also.
