    Hello,

I built my current rig in 2007. It has served me well and only the motherboard and graphics card have been replaced since then by RMA.

Would it be worthwhile purchasing a newer GPU for it? Clearly it wouldn't be a good idea to buy the latest and greatest card, but something that would match my current spec which is in my sig.

    Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Probably something along the lines of maybe a 460gtx or 560 non ti would work well. Or maybe something a bit more low end on newer models

Pick up a 2nd hand q6600 and u fill find you won't bottleneck midrange cards too badly. A 7850 or 7870 would still be decent backed by a quad.

I'd agree with mrbungle - Q6600 in, turn up the volume and drop in a 7870 (or 660Ti) and you'll be laughing! :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't think to upgrade the processor. A q6600 can be picked up on ebay for about £45.

Might just keep my existing processor and get a cheap card for about £100.

imo just get a higher end card so that you can move it over to your next rig without it being wasted long term in your current PC once it's retired

Or even a 7850, those things can overclock like crazy.. Had mine running at 1150 MHz stock volts.. Pretty much the same speed as a 7950

I would say have a look at our weekly deals, We might be able to help you out this week with a decent HD7850 at very decent prices.

My q6600 does me well... but I am looking to upgrade soon. 1920x1080 bf3 high settings I got about 30fps.... on pc in sig.

Will have to overclock a but more for bf4 me thinks, and oc the gfx card as well. I am looking to upgrade but im going to see how I perform in bf4 first.

Also I am thinking a ssd will do for short term fix!!
