Windows Windows freezing after about 2 days on?

    System Specs:

    Intel 4770K soft overclock to 4.3
    Asus Sabertooth z87
    Asus GTX 780 3GB (320.49 drivers)
    Crucial Vengeance 16gb running 1866 XMP
    Samsung 840 pro 256gb
    2x wd red 3tb in RAID 1

    Issue:

    Hey everyone, bit of a problem at the moment! I have recently built a computer which runs nice and smoothly for a day or two, after that it has a tendency to freeze and lock up once every minute for a couple of seconds. It doesn't seem to lock up if I don't do anything (i.e. watching a video works fine), just when I move the mouse or type something it intermittently freezes up.

    I've run a full memtest on my RAM and full WD lifeguard scans on my drives with full passes for both, I'm currently thinking that it's the GPU but I don't really have any way to check this at video memory stress test will not run on the card as it is too new.

    Anyone know of similar issues? I've been looking around on-line and nothing is coming up that's on the haswell line. Kind of feel like I've spent a lot of money on a buggy POS at the moment. :(

    Have you tried just running with one stick of ram at a time, seeing if you get any issues there?

    Also maybe check you got the late bios

    I would remove any overclock while you troubleshoot the issue. Just in case its causing a problem.

    Last time i had the syptoms you describe it turned out to be a dodgy psu!

    I'm running the latest BIOS and as I said ran memtest on the RAM but just in case it's something to do with the motherboard I will try one stick, thanks!

    I'm going to return to factory settings now and see if the problem goes away :D

    Check Windows downdate mate.

    When I was running 7 Windows kept insisting on putting a driver or 'update' on my PC that would make it do exactly what you describe. In the end I got so fed up that I performed a system restore and then disabled Windows Update.

    Turning windows update off is a bit excessive... you can just ignore/hide individual updates...
