oh god its every bit as incredible as I thought it would be, today i have: built 3 seperate factions dealt with epidemics achieved a 100% Eco Balance (farms outputing at 180%) scavanged the deep for relics of the old world chased down sharks in a submarine blew up an oil refinary (and cleaned it up) done dirty deals with scavangers aboard a hijacked aircraft carrier danced the dangerous diplomacy between 4 npcs (they have a real hissy fit if you start working with someone they dont like) and ive barely scratched the surface its....just awesome the only thing stopping me from carrying on is the need for sleep, nn.
Aaargh so many games out at the moment - I haven't got time to breathe!! I think this might have to wait a bit though as currently I am trying to play Arma 2, Take On Helicopters, Skyrim, BF3, Saints Row:TT and Forza 4 all at the same time. I have hardly touched Red Orchestra and Stronghold 3 yet either. Someone needs to invent cloning quickly...
For lack of a decent review anywhere, how does the transition between land and underwater work? Do you just keep zooming in? Don't suppose you want to do a Youtube vid of you playing for a little bit so we can see the gameplay? If you do, remember to tag it in the 18+ section and porn......
yeha you just zoom in until you make an almighty splash. im doing another Wild Card of it atm, gonna take several hours to render though
I was not a fan of the demo but I have been looking for a replacement for grand ages rome for some time. The DRM is at least only a one time activation and 3 times concurrent install limit if what I have read is correct. Best of all, I got it from gamersgate so I don't have to put up with any always on clients! It was also £30 there, so 5 quid cheaper than Direct 2 Drive or steam. Sadly it uses Ubishits UPlay service for its multi player... Only some play time with it will tell if it's any good. But I like the look of it so far. I can also recommend gamersgate service thus far, download speeds were very fast and being able to pay with paypal were all positive.
Heh - should have seen this one coming... can't log on, according to the ubi forums the server is down. Should have expected this but thought I would try to be optimistic. I did try the standard off line mode but get a "user is already logged on error"... :/
ask and ye shall recieve. sorry about the city looking a little "meh" it was my first using the new technology tree's
Looks really cool, now really torn as to whether to just get anno 1404 and it's expansion for cheap, or to fork out for this.....
Installing now! Rather excited. GeorgeStorm, Anno 1404 & Venice are awesome. Probably worth getting those and 2070 when it drops in price.
It's not dissimilar to Sim City. I've only really played SimCity 4, and from memory, to improve your town, you need to get more people in to unlock further items. To do this you need to have jobs available, transport, leisure(?), utilities, schools etc. With Anno, you also need to have more people to unlock further build options. There are different classes of people, with different requirements, and to unlock say a tier 3 building, you need to have x amount of tier 3 population. The requirements in Anno are mostly tradable items. Since i've not played the new one, i'll draw experiences from the last and Gunsmith can correct me if it's changed. Tier 1 anno population need fish, and a chapel. Fish can be bought/sold to other people, it is harvested using fishing huts. The chapel is a building that has an area where it causes and effect. Tier 2 population has linen garments, which you need hemp to make, and a weavers hut. As well as fish. Again you can trade for linen garments, or hemp. Anno is more about production and trade than simcity imo. It's very good, but, at least with the old ones, I never found there was much different between one game and the next personally. Watch some of gunsmiths video, it'll give you a good idea
mostly right but to advance you need to supply the needs of each class and support them, once that Tier of citizen was stable they then act as a foundation for next tier who have more needs. I.E. (using anno 2070 goods) Tier 1 = fish/amusement/drink/company Tier 2 = fish/amusement/drink/company/health food/information Tier 3 = fish/amusement/drink/company/health food/information/communicators/pasta dishes/Participation the game throws a wrench in by only unlocking needs once a Tier reaches a certain population and a ratio between the Tiers means you have to expand and thusly support the lower Tiers. the biggest problem faced in 1404 was the shortage of land for all the production buildings but 2070 fixes that with the Eco Balance mechanic and so a Positive Eco Balance can double production output you need to balance productioin output with need to not create an over stocking of goods (you can sell excess but not everyone buys everything)
I loved the first one, will deffo be getting this. Question is....where from! I might hang on for steam sales
