I have no idea this stuff is possible in PC then I saw a motherboard capable of doing this. I am not an electrician or something but I totally have no idea how it works. Does adding up amp charges your mobile device faster? How will it affect your battery in the long run?
My motherboard has a similar feature. Standard USB 2.0 port will output 0.5A and most phones now are capable of receiving around 2A So motherboards that offer fast charge ports just output more amps that the device connecting can receive. If you check your phone charger its likely 5v around 2A so this is safe for the phone. It charges it the same as your phone charger would. Edit: Here are my ports connecting to a Sony Xperia z3+ http://imgur.com/gMh0W5Q Standard USB on the front panel it pulls 0.3A http://imgur.com/AR6oGqK The Fast charging port it pulls over 1A Testing my official charger the phone is pulling similar so I may be hitting a limit by my current battery charge. But I hope this provides some insight.

It supports QC2.0 (12V/1.5A output), Apple Mode (5V /2.4A) and BC1.2." I know you are the right person to ask. I have an Asus Zenfone 5 and might get that motherboard in the future. Is that feature really capable of fast charging or just another marketing strategy?
From what I can see, your phone does not support quick charge 2.0 but the apple mode would be useful, however it would not charge your phone any faster than your standard charger that came with your phone. It would charge your phone faster than none Lightning Charger ports. If you had a phone that supports Quick Charge 2.0 you would see 75% charge in 30 mins. When using this board or a QC 2.0 Charger.
I checked qualcomm's page to see if my phone supports quick charge 2.0. Sad my phone is not on this list.
