Ok, so I'm planning on scratch building a HTPC for my lounge.. With the arrival of the AM1 processor line, I'm quite tempted to use them.. However I'm not sure if they'll be powerful enough for watching Blu-Rays/Stream online videos in 1080p. Any ideas from people if it should work?

It'll be fine for HTPC media playback. Just don't expect much in the way of grunt for any gaming.

As above. It'll be able to play 1080P video just fine but it will struggle to do anything more graphically demanding.

Thanks! I have a "very low budget" gaming pc to cater for that! This would just be for iPlayer etc. Possibly some streaming films from my gaming pc's HDD. But if my laptop can do that...

What's your laptop like? I imagine it would be fine for the most part unless it is ancient.

It's an AMD (but with separate GPU chip) from 3 years ago.. It still works fine though.

Need a bit more than that. Download CPUZ and tell me what it is exactly. :)

Should be okay though, I would think.

Ahh.. Just realised that it has no HDMI output and that my tv doesn't have a "PC" input.. AM1 here I come then!
