Hey guys! Welcome to my custom desk build log!

    Intro:

This is my first custom build of this degree so I'm taking it pretty slowly.

The components for the build at this point are as follows:
    - Intel Core i7 3930k
    - Asrock Extreme11 X79 Motherboard
    - G. Skill Ripjaws 8x 4GB
    - Lepa G1600 PSU
    - OCZ Vertex 4 128GB SSD in RAID 0
    - Western Digital VelociRaptor in RAID 5
    - 2x EVGA GTX 690

    The Desk:

So after a few days of sketching I came up with a couple of potential designs I was pretty happy with. I decided the build would be in aluminium with panel inserts made out of laminated particle board.

A little over two thirds of the desktop will be made of particle board with a hideaway cable compartment towards the rear of the desk that can be accessed by removing a separate part of the particle board desktop. the remainder of the desktop will be a glass panel which will show off the computer components. The two openings on the front face of the desk to the left will be used as a shelf and a draw.

    The Frame:

I'm currently in the process of grinding down some of the joins in the frame ready for the inserts to be made up.

I'll post up some hardware pictures and more pictures of the desk frame as soon as possible :D
