I shall be sticking with 7 for some time yet. Be interesting to see how 8 turns out.

Windows has offered practically no new features that users can actually see for the last eleven years.

Must try harder. Or stop trying.

No, I'll be sticking to Windows 7. I've only just upgraded everything from XP in the last year. It'll be a long time before I feel the need to replace my OS again, no matter how good Windows 8 will be.

3 years between desktop OS is a little quick imo...
Probably wont get Win 8 unless it prints money...

I'll probably buy it if they do the pre-order deals that they did with win 7, I have upgraded 3 of our pc's to win 7, mine got a pre-order full copy and two got student upgrades. If I get win 8 then my win 7copy goes to my son 8. Might even do my laptop if the price is right.

    I wouldn't bother otherwise though.

It's a bit soon considering how good Win 7 is. I won't be upgrading without MS forcing my hand with some DX12 only bs. I would like to see a feature list of Win 8 actually, I can't think of anything they could do except more UI changes.

I'll probably get Win8. No issues with a 3 year cycle from my side...

I'll see what it's like before deciding.

I'll probably get at least one copy through works channels to test, though.

I don't mind them releasing the products more regularly, as long as they are cheaper as they will include less content.

Will almost definitely be avoiding Windows 8. I don't see any new features which I couldn't live without (Windows 7 and - if I ever switch back to it - Ubuntu, do all that I need), and I dislike the ribbon interface.

Windows 7 does everything i need very well...and more, why would i want to upgrade?
Saying that if 8 is the dogs nuts and provides some interesting features then ill probably hop on it (if i can get it on the cheap, i got my copy of 7 Ultimate for pretty much free through my last work)
But for what i use my PC for XP would suffice, i'm just running 7 as a luxury.

I can understand the ever increasing need for an OS that works on portable and more tactile devices such as tablets and indeed the low power and battery saving features that accompany portable devices. But why not just branch off the OS and leave Win7 for the desktops and make 8 for the up and coming devices.

No point in forcing innovation on a product that is very competent and still very young...SP2 anyone?

I'll give the public beta a go if they do it again and then decide given pricing.

Unless the memory and disk footprint is cut and it has some awesome (NOT Aesthetic) features then I will upgrade. Otherwise, I will continue to use Win7 that I get through my school's MSDNAA
