Does anyone know if there is a program that can batch convert PDF files to plain text? Found a couple sites that offer such functionality but that doesn't really help and neither does manual conversion because there's about seven thousand PDFs that I need to convert. Converter can leave images and such out, I only need the text. Edit: See post #4.
Have you tried the Export option on Adobe Acrobat? EDIT: Never mind I didn't take into account the "batch convert" part of your question. EDIT2: Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro has an option to Export multiple PDF's to a required format.
We use Readiris at work. You can set up input and output folders to batch convert as many documents as you want
Thanks mates. Ran into PDF Ripper that seems to handle the job perfectly. Small test batch went through pretty fine, some documents do end up with errors but source material isn't exactly top notch. Quick too, raw conversion should be done in less than three hours even on the sacrificial VM on rather slow host.
