As we said, EVGA doesn't use any upgraded components for its power phases, whereas ASUS and EVGA both use higher end parts.

Errrr? Think the latter EVGA should read MSI?

Nice cards, particularly for the price. It's nice to see some actual pricing competition for once, rather than cards getting ever more expensive.

At stock speeds under load a GTX 970 uses as little power as a GTX 760.
An oc'd GTX 970 can compete with a GTX 780ti.

    And it costs under £300.

Reminds of the previous time when there was only one choice for the somewhat budget conscious enthusiast (8800GTS).

I'm seriously tempted by the MSI.

Just pulled the trigger on the MSI model on Ebuyer for £274.99 delivered.
    Replacing my 2xGTX 760s I sold yesterday.

1st ever card I have bought on launch day.
    Properly excited.

A couple of questions... You mention possible ITX issues with the ASUS card, should it be OK in a Corsair 250D?

Secondly, is/will it be possible to purchase a back plate to use with the MSI card with it's current cooler?
I HATE seeing PCB's and it is my biggest issue with so called 'full cover' waterblocks when the PCB extends beyond the end of the WB.

Unless I missed something, you compared the specs to the 680... but then didn't include the results of the tests from any 680 card, but did include the 660 results. This disappoints me as I have a 680 and it would have been nice to know how it compares.

OC up to around GTX 980? Check.
    Priced under $400? Check.
    Use very efficient power? Check.

    What the hell?

    What am I waiting for?

That was my card before I won this 660Ti from a contest.

Next card is definitely the 970.

    Life is good.

Tom's power consumption section is pretty interesting, worth reading. It's spread over 3 pages.

    Damn it...

if GTA V hadn't been delayed until January I would of placed an order for a couple of these today...as that's really the only game I want to play in the next few months that would have, I suspect, been too much for my 2GB 760.

As it is, I'll now wait until the new year and see what other versions of this card are released.
