I think a better question is: "can it play tetris?"

I'm not sure if it was about generosity, but rather protecting themselves from being a liability. I'm sure they have no expectation this person will come forward, but this way they can be like "well, we asked and the right person never came forward".

Apparently, this recycling center gives 50% of the selling proceeds to the owner. Thats what they said in the news,

Good people have a tendency to be generous when good fortune strikes. There was an episode of American Pickers, the guys picked some dude's junk and bought a couple of huge banners for a travelling circus. When they sold them on, it turned out they were advertising banners for America's first ever travelling circus - they paid a few hundred bucks IIRC, they got something like 20 grand for them. So they went back to the guy who they got them off and gave him half. It's not like they had to do it - they could've just cut that bit out of the show and no-one would ever have known.

Actually they did have to go back to give him half because that's what the script said they must do.

    :)

I see she hasn't come forward yet. I hope the news reaches her, $100k is likely to be a life-changing amount of money for an older person.
