The wife and I and our 3 children (5, 3, 6 months) are thinking about taking a (guided) drive through Route 66. We will be flying there from Brazil but I just wanted to ask if anyone has any experiences related to doing this, especially any recommendations as to good tour companies, or even if anyone has done it them selves and has any comments about their thoughts on it.

    Any help appreciated guys, thanks.

The whole mystique about Route 66 depends on the travelers' experiences while driving themselves upon it. A tour company would restrict your personal choices as to what actually appeals to you thereby passing by what else you choose to be interested in. It would also depend on how much time you want to spend at each stop.

Yeah, I don't think a guided tour is really a great idea.
