    F Yes.

The best thing about this is video of it running XMBC and 1080 H.264 @ 30fps.

Media centre dream come true. I want millions of these.

This plus the XBMC "distro" sounds pure cheesecake epicness.

Plug this into my network, see the NAS and I am away!

I wonder if there is a way to get my PlayTV tuner to work with it as well (I have used hacked drivers for windows before but not looked into the linux side of things).

If so I could finally retire my overworked PS3 from its media duties.

Getting one for xbmc > tv

Also another to teach myself a bit more about being a geek (SHMBO is simply thrilled, btw) After that, assuming I still have a home to go to I can see many other uses :)

Lovely well written, enjoyable article. Thanks for the "one stop shop" as to what the Raspberry Pi is.

Chaps, its not quite the cheesecake gooyness of epicness! Codec support has yet to be confirmed, although we know H.264 and AAC on the audio side are included. Again this comes down to licensing costs and the need for the foundation to keep the cost of the device low.

However, having followed the project for several months now, there are some great ideas coming out of the forums and people all over the world are really embracing the idea. Myself I will buy one of the first 10,000 batch and then look to buy 1 of 2 more. Replacing my crudovision XTreamer hot, noisy media-Iwontstream-er is my first need. Then i would like to making a cheap IP security cam and web server our of a RPi and web cam.

Im also wondering with the Gert board if I can use one with my telescope mount, to improve on the guiding. But that is probably a year away from even starting.

All we need now is the BBC to sponsor it and we're back in the 1980s!

This means I could basically rip apart my surround receiver and stick this in there somewhere and have a complete surround sound + home media player in a box. I am SO getting one of these.

You could even expand on this by coupling the Pi's PSU to the surround receivers PSU and soldering the Pi's HDMI output to one of the input ports on the surround receiver. Damn this would be awesome.
