Motherboards This really would not be an upgrade would it?

I have always fancied an Asus maximus v gene and there are a couple on the MP for sale at the moment.
But if you look at my signature you will see that I have Gigabyte Sniper M3 and as far as I can find out moving to the V gene would not be an upgrade.

    What say you?

Think you have answered your own question!

TBH for a modest OC like yours you could prob swap the motherboard for any z series board and be non the wiser.

I think you are right, just trying to justify wasting 80 quid on a mobo I really don't need.

You could always send that £80 my way and I'll spend it on something nice? :D

But you're right, it would be a 'side' grade than an upgrade. ;)

Of course there's nothing wrong with a side grade if the replacement has something extra that you currently don't have (even looks) - also you could sell your existing one to recoup some of the costs

Asus boards are pretty tasty though.

Lol. My only saving grace is I really do not have the cash at the moment and when I do hopefully both of them would have sold. But.......

something comparable to an item you already own varying only in manufacturer and looks

eg you already have an amd 7870 and wish to get a gtx 660ti - very similar in perfroamnce , so its a sidegrade not an upgrade.
