October 7th saw the launch of the GeForce GTX 900M series from NVIDIA. We can without a doubt say that these cards are the best mobile graphics ever, enabling us to produce even better gaming notebooks, such as the GT72. The GT72 is obviously the flagship in the MSI lineup, and by the launch of the 970M/980M, the GT72 lineup was refreshed with these graphics cards. For MSI, this is actually an easy job, because we have chosen to use a modular MXM graphics design, which is the point of this article.

In other words – if you’re lucky enough to already own a GT72, and the type of user who wants the best, one fully understandable reaction to the launch would be “oh no, my system isn’t top of the line anymore.” Normally, to keep up with the evolution and play the latest and greatest games at full-HD resolution at maximum settings, you’d be forced to go out and get a new system at full price – not so with the MSI GT72.

We are now launching an upgrade program for the GT72 – if you own one with a GTX 870M or 880M, you can easily upgrade to the 970M or 980M by just changing the graphics card. This can be done by an MSI service center, or by purchasing a DIY kit, depending on your location. The result is that you no longer have to go through the hassle of changing your full system to get that latest-gen performance boost, saving you money, and efforts to install your games onto an all new system.

Better yet – even if you buy a GT72 with the new GTX 900M series graphics, you’re not missing out on anything. Instead, you will be able to upgrade to the next generation of NVIDIA GPUs in late 2015, making the MSI GT72 a truly upgradable gaming machine.
