Anyone got a good one to follow? I have some CPU's to fold on. The onld V6 client seems to not work. Even if I give it the a3 core it trys to re-download it and then can't download it.
There are pre-requisites for the v6 Linux client - 'ia32-libs' if I recall. Try the v7 client - works fine on Linux.
Got V7 installed and working. However I've got no control over it. In the config.xml the remote section has sotmhing like 127.0.0.1 X.X.X.X What would I need to set to allow all IP's and then a pass to auth.
Did you install both parts of v7 for Linux, i.e. FAHclient and FAHControl? FAHControl, as well as allowing control for the clients in general, also allows setting of the remote access.
So I dont need to faff around I installed vncserver on my headless and use vnc to take control. I followed most of this guide to install vnc server with a classic gnome frontend: http://rbgeek.wordpress.com/2012/06/25/how-to-install-vnc-server-on-ubuntu-server-12-04/ I then use ssh to run the vncserver when I want and give it dimensions: Code: vncserver -geometry 1280x1024 F@HControl will be under a Science tab on the menu. Letting you have normal control over F@H. For external access I only run vncserver when I need to and I port forward on some random ports to try and stop access from anyone else.
Was going to do that but my xstartup never works. I ether get a desktop with a mouse on it. No menu. Black & white hashed screen Or a grey screen with a few tick boxes on.
The box in the image above has only ever had a monitor attached to it when I initially installed ubuntu. Its had a few reboots in its time and not had a monitor attached during those either and can still run vncserver. Did you install the full desktop version and if so which version?
It was running Latest version of Ubuntu server. I installed gnome-desktop. EDIT: Looking at my sig it seems it's folding away so might not bother with the control.
