Other iPhones and 3G

    I don't know if this belongs elsewhere, apologies if it does, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me. Was there ever an adapter of some description made for the original iPhone, so it could use 3G as well or as opposed to EDGE? It strikes me as the sort of thing that could be done, but never happened or has been done and my google-fu has failed me.

    Either way, could someone please inform me.

    Adding 3G would mean replacing the whole mobile radio system.. all the chips, the aerial etc. The 3G had a new radio, new battery, new casing. Not possible I'm afraid :(

    I'd wait if I were you. They are announcing an update in June. They may release the '4G' the same day, they may just be announcing its existence. Either way, it would be best to wait if you can.

    (Turn by turn GPS coming too! :D)

    Yep, better wait. I heard rumours too about the new iPhone being in stores by July.

    Either that or hope o2 do the same shiznit as last year, allowing people to just renew their contracts, then again before you had to pay for the phone entirely yourself, now it is subsidised...

    Goddamnit, I'm writing this from my shiny new iPhone 3G... Ah well, smeggers can't be choosers. Cheers for the advice lads. Now I just need a couple of decent apps to really get this thing flying.

    I've actually done that before :lol:

    sat in a pub in brighton, with my HTC phone being a WiFi hotspot for the two original iPhones my friends had at the time, so they could load a youtube video they were trying to show us :rock:
