My PC has been folding slowly but steadily for weeks. AMD 5200+, openSUSE 12.1, Linux Console Edition, Folding@Home Client Version 6.34 The last three units have not completed, complaining about a .dat file. Should I delete the folding folder and download the client again? Is that a Linux client? Does the file exist during the fold? Whats the permissions on the file? (the first column of "ls -l work.wuresults_*". Bit wierd, would be a shame to delete a work unit
Yes, it is a Linux client. The client is abandoning unfinished work units, so I think deleting everything word do no harm. It has completed 22% of the latest work unit at the moment. It is due to finish this about 2pm tomorrow. On recent experience, I expect it to complete about 80% by 10am then abandon the WU and download another. Good question. There are no wuresults files during the fold. there are wudata_04 to wudata_06 files with extentions .arc .bed .bxv .chk .dat .goe .log .pdo .sas .xtc .xvg Code: art@cpc2:~/folding/work> ls -l total 23660 -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 25 22:59 core78.sta -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 56544 Mar 26 21:46 current.xyz -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 4797 Mar 24 20:40 logfile_04.txt -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 5023 Mar 25 20:40 logfile_05.txt -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 6067 Mar 26 14:53 logfile_06.txt -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 1841 Mar 26 21:46 logfile_07.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 24 06:03 wudata_04.arc -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 4612 Mar 24 20:29 wudata_04.bed -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 174 Mar 24 20:40 wudata_04.bxv -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 229 Mar 24 20:40 wudata_04.chk -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 821244 Mar 24 20:40 wudata_04CP.arc -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 821244 Mar 24 20:40 wudata_04CP.arc.b -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 664032 Mar 24 06:03 wudata_04.dat -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 8 Mar 24 08:24 wudata_04.dyn -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 24 06:03 wudata_04.goe -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 18504 Mar 24 20:40 wudata_04.log -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 24 06:03 wudata_04.pdo -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 24 06:03 wudata_04.sas -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 411152 Mar 24 20:29 wudata_04.xtc -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 24 06:03 wudata_04.xvg -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 3328716 Mar 24 08:24 wudata_04.xyz -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 24 20:43 wudata_05.arc (snip) -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 3328716 Mar 25 22:59 wudata_06.xyz -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.arc -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 2260 Mar 26 21:27 wudata_07.bed -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 173 Mar 26 22:01 wudata_07.bxv -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 229 Mar 26 22:01 wudata_07.chk -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 821244 Mar 26 22:01 wudata_07CP.arc -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 821244 Mar 26 22:01 wudata_07CP.arc.b -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 664032 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.dat -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 8 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.dyn -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.goe -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 8875 Mar 26 21:42 wudata_07.log -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.pdo -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.sas -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 164104 Mar 26 21:27 wudata_07.xtc -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 0 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.xvg -rw-r--r-- 1 art users 3328716 Mar 26 14:57 wudata_07.xyz -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 512 Mar 24 20:40 wuinfo_04.dat -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 512 Mar 25 20:40 wuinfo_05.dat -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 512 Mar 26 14:53 wuinfo_06.dat -rwxr-x--- 1 art users 512 Mar 26 21:46 wuinfo_07.dat
I've had one of these in the past. Delete the WU and associated files and try again. If it picks up the same WU, change the ID in the config.
Thanks. I have done it. I have taken the opportunity to add the -smp which I had forgoten before, which should also make it get a different work unit. update: My PC is now completing work units as normal. Thanks DocJonz and FingAZ. update 2 April: folding with the -smp flag worked fine and uses the a3 core. I tried folding without the -smp flag and the previous not completing problem returned. I deleted FahCore78.exe and it downloaded a new one and worked fine after that.
