hey guys.. while i working on my "server of nod " project, i notice to the fact that my cables are too short. i don't thinks that should be any problems with that - but i want to be sure.. thanks!
I've seen mixed results with CCFLs. If it's possible for you to extend the part from the inverter to the power - that is best. john
all the idea is to hide the all inverters ... so i prefer to extend the soft cable from the inverter to the ccfl..
thanks for the link.. i know this item... but i need a lot of them and i prefer to make them in the length i need..
It's Kynar wire as sold in reels here. There's still a limit to the length as the wire capacitance adds to the tube capacitance increasing the load. Search this forum on 'kynar' for more info.
I seem to remember reading a while back people having troubles with CCFL cables. You need to use the correct type of wire or you get interference or something and the lights don't work good. edit: cpemma beat me to it.
Yeah I tried extending my CCFLs with speaker cable, and only half of the cathode lit up. You'd need some really highly conductive wire for it to work.
FWIW, I added about 10cm of normal hookup wire between the inverter and CCFL for a case a while ago and it worked fine.
Ahh I see. I prefer LED lighting personally, but CCFLs are really bright, and you only need a few of them to light up a whole case.
how much you need - if say 3m enough send me a pm with ya address. As CPemma said you need kynar wire & kynar heatshrink helps when joining kynar wire.
