Anyone else getting stuttering of any kind in games with their GTX 970/980's?

I am getting a horrible experience in CS:GO and League of Legends would literally go full green for 10 seconds then return nearly every match.

    Anyone experienced anything like this?

Does it happen in other games? If it's across the board it suggests a bad card. Probably obvious advice, sorry! I'll watch this thread closely as I'm going to get a 970 in a couple of months myself...

No stuttering so far from my MSI variant in a cross section of games including Metro Last Light and Bioshock 2

Yeah I have the MSI model too.....It was fine during benches, Bioshock Infinite and all those built in benchmarks

Might just be release drivers :(

It's release drivers. MY 780 has been stuttering a little when I minimize. Probably due to the card not clocking up under load.

Might be related to Precision X/Afterburner.

Works flawlessly in BF4, the one game I expected to show an issue if it was the card.....

:( no closer to fixing then :p

You can disable Nvidia GPU power management system and see if that helps.
You can change that in the Nvidia Control Panel.

    Tried that

Using onboard atm to see if it still does it, if so ill re-install the game and might have found the issue :p

There'll probably a release on the beta fork fairly soon with a fix. The full WHQL approval might take a bit longer...

Honestly, Nvidia drivers are garbage right now. Probably need to wait for a second or third driver release before they start catching all the bugs.

My 980 drivers are crashing left and right. It just can't seem to stay stable for even 5 minutes. Especially bad when it throttles due to temps. When it hits the temperature envelope of 81C, the game would freeze for 5 second and the drivers would crash. The card only explodes when I bench, so thats not too bad.

The clearest sign that drivers are bad is when you boot your computer, you get all your BIOS screen but once windows loads and your drivers are online. Your 4k monitor blacks out and you have to restart and try again. Maybe I will reinstall my drivers again....

So don't go and return your card just yet.

I had the same problem with the 780. Now got 2 770's running but I used the driver that came out with the card from Gainward and have never had the problem again with Joint Operations. The nVidia cards hate the old games but give it something like BF4 and it loves it.

The problem for 9XX users is that we're limited to the latest drivers for our cards to work at all. I've run Last Light, The Witcher 2 and Shift 2 so far and apart from one strange freeze during the Shift session (fixed by alt-tabbing out and back in again), no problems to report.
