I know the reveal is supposedly tonight, but I'm interested to see if anyone thinks there will be anything mid range announced or if it'll all be about the high end.

I'm holding off on deciding on a card but ill only be looking to spend around £170. Does anyone reckon there'll be anything new in the sub £200 price bracket released anytime soon?

It'll be 1080/1070 for sure. We know there's a GP200-'150' core that'll be used for something smaller than the '200' which is the 1080/70 series, and best guess is that it's a 1060 Ti. It's implied it'll use a 192-bit bus and if that's true it could be a notebook only part as NB parts commonly use 192-bit bus in mid-to-high end to cost-down on PCB layers + size. Beyond that GP106 will be ~Q3 that'll be 1060/1050.

This was my guess a while ago, although 106 could be 2/3 SM, unknown entirely.

You may get an AMD go cheaper than 200 if they release Polaris 11 in June.

I am most looking forward to the 1070 and if it has the same Price/Performance impact that the 970 did when released then I am sure to get one... (Hopefully)

:thumb: Looks like a very high demand product. Should see some good aftermarket cooler versions at Computex in 3 weeks.

I'm just wondering what it will do the the 970 prices (both new and S/H).

From what I can tell of the pricing the 1070 will be way out of my budget and there's no mention of a lower range card that I've seen.

Apparently a 980ti Strix was on Ebay for £350 BIN. On OCUK there are currently four or five on the market at £380 ONO.

TBH? they will have a hard time getting that. The 1070 should cost around £350 and will be faster, cooler, use less power and have more VRAM.

I think once things settle 980tis will be worth around £300 if you are lucky.

970s are going for around £170 right now. I predict that will be closer to £100 soon. The 1060 is touted as being as fast as a 970 and will cost $200 brand new. So around £170 brand new and will likely have 6gb VRAM.

As I mentioned elsewhere I am just glad I bought my Fury Xs cheap. The first cost me £410 four days after launch and the second card cost me £390 about four months ago. I won't sell them (I wouldn't get nothing for them any way in all honesty) so I will just shuffle them into my other rigs :)

I've not seen any mention of a 1060 yet.

Most of the 970s I've seen have been £200+ although that's only on eBay, I don't have classifieds access here yet.

It depends on your definition of stock, whilst I agree the 980 prices are going to take a kicking (rather rapidly IMHO) the Titan cooler variety will still hold it's head above the water in terms of pricing.

The market prices will be in flux pending the actual hands on benchmarks of the 1070/80 and to be fair anyone dumping a 970/80 so close to a new GPU series release is mad.

Yup personally I wouldn't sell for what they will fetch. Been there done that got £580 for two Titan Black that I'd paid £1400 for .

It sucks but that's how it is with Nvidia.

TBH having come to my senses after the initial excitement I've realised I really don't need anything . Fury x still murders 1440p and my freesync monitor would hate Nvidia any way .

70hz is enough for me as freesync doesn't operate higher than that any way :)

Indeed, who's betting it has a 7.5GB buffer with another 500MB available when required :D

Am I the only one waiting on a 750ti replacement? Low power 950's are too little too late. Rumours are placing the 1070 at the 980/980ti level of performance.

AMD are said to be targeting the mid range with their release with the R9 Fury remaining their top end card and the new card's performing around 970 level with lowered price and "massive" power efficiency gains. Seem to be going for the bread and butter market as well as entry VR machines.

AMD are supposedly targeting mainstream with their release. I read this on WCCF (add salt)
and it got me thinking, maybe the rumours that we're getting 390 levels of performance aren't exactly correct, we might not be getting exactly 390 performance, but we might be getting performance relative to what the 390 is in their product lineup, i.e. high end mainstream. If that makes sense. We'll find out at the end of the month I suppose.

Anyway, I've not seen anything about NVidia's lower end at the moment, rumours of a 1060Ti but only rumours.

Apparently back to school? or school something? so end of summer like Fury X.

There's no rush, given it's not competitive muscles wise. It will be a good price and will be entry level for VR but yeah, no rush now.

Press conference though. Important thing is when they hit retail? The 1080 will be out at that point, and I think AMD need to get their skates on and get their 490 out before the 1070 lands in June as those two will be in direct competition.

Very true, we'll only know at the end of the month. 1080 Founders Edition will be out, they didn't give a date for the normal edition IIRC, so normal ones may or may not be available. But I agree, ideally AMD needs to do a hard launch when announced. Anyone not waiting to see what they both have are mad IMO :p

Hopefully there will be more of a line up from Nvidia soon too.
