Not sure how widespread this actually is but I've had to re-enable my ad-blocker for this site. One of the ads is locking firefox up for me, I get the stop script option but it locks up again almost immediately. The only way I can stop it is by terminating the plugins container process. I can use the site again, until I go onto a new page. The ad window says it is using flash.
Okay, I will raise with the team but it could be tricky to pin down. Can you give any info about the script causing it? Assuming Firefox and flash players are up to date? Any way of checking if it happens on other browsers? If not, no worries, just extra info like this really helps.
Ok, back. Seems to be ok on both browsers, but the ad that was playing before (Which was very pink There was a woman involved, a very pink woman.) isn't playing at the moment. Will leave the ad-blocker off and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure Firefox is up to date. Updated last when I saw the firefox multithreading article. Was under the impression that Flash itself wasn't installed as a separate package anymore. Too many bugs and security holes. Was surprised to see the ad was using flash.
+1 for this (getting that flash is not responding, though cant really see any flash content in page), also while we are on the subject of adds - dont know how much $ you get from google adds, but I'm blocking them. I have no problem with contextually fitting, non intrusive adds, but google ones are one step away from promoting viagra.
Thanks guys. The devs are alerted and are now monitoring this thread. To help them out, next time you see the error please screenshot it and post it here - this will really help narrow the search
Just experienced another lockup, it went away after I pressed debug script. Too hungover to be able to analyse it properly but I don't remember seeing an video ads. this was the highlighted script: right:0,bottom:0,width:0,height:0};if(!a||!b)return c;c.width=b.offsetWidth;for(c.height=b.offsetHeight;bif(c.left+=b.offsetLeft,c.top+=b.offsetTop,b.offsetParent)b=b.offsetParent;else var d=Utils.getWindow(b),b=d&&d!==a&&d.frameElement?d.frameElement:null;c.right=c.left+c.width;c.bottom=c.top+c.height;return c={left:c.left,top:c.top,width:c.width,height:c.height,right:c.right,bottom:c.bottom}},getFlashObject:function(){for(var a=Utils.getAllTags(parent,"object"),b=Utils.getAllTags(parent,"embed"), Edit: I did have a few other pages open at the time including Facebook, so it's possible it wasn't from bit-Tech, but the freeze occurred when I opened the Scythe article.
