News Intel pushes Broadwell production to 2014

    Afaik, Broadwell is the mobile (i.e. BGA) Haswell-successor, while Skylake will be the desktop-successor (i.e. LGA) in 2015.

    And a delay of a quarter isn't that much imho, especially with intel having tons of time, as AMD is not a real competitior anymore, still manufacturing in 32nm.

    Not according to earlier leaks, which suggest Broadwell-D parts for desktops. 'Course, that doesn't mean the desktop parts won't be BGA-only, despite leaked roadmaps showing LGA, but it does mean Broadwell isn't mobile-specific.

    if its for mobile then AMD is not relivent, Samsung is ready for 20nm development though. In mobile at least Intel has at most a 1 year advantage on NM then its nearest competitior.

    Intel has bigger issues in mobile than its NM in truth, Performance per watt and actually finding someone to buy the chips would be useful. But like Nvidia tegra 4 chip, Intels chips are struggling to find a big product ( in raw sales terms) to enter into.

    With Apple and Samsung now developing there own chips and leading the Mobile Markets there is few companies who can afford a top end chip price that Nvidia / Intel Currently offer.

    Samsung still use a large amount of 3rd party chips, with even flagship phones (Galaxy S4 and Note 3) using Snapdragons in multiple regions/variants. Of course, convinving them to use one of their processors would still be very difficult.
