Hi all, I've just had the Email about us taking part in the 2011 Chimps Challenge :D

Firstly are we all up for this again?? Yeah yeah I know it was a silly question and the answer is - of course we are going to kick some Monkey butt this year!! (Dear bank manager I need a loan for a bunch of SR-2's...) haha :naughty:

I have been back onto the official CC 2011 forum and said I am almost positive that we will be taking part this year but obviously we need to get the ball rolling and discuss what we want to do as a team this year?

    Main questions are:

    1. Who is going to be Captain for our team this year? I will look after it, am more than happy to :)
    2. Are we going to use the same name as last year: I think we are going to stick with "CustomBitChimps" again :)
    3. We need to start a list of users that want to take part: Get your name down!! :thumb:

The captains have started talking about having Handicaps this year for the smaller producing teams as last year it was pretty much a race for winner between EVGA and OCN see graph below:

For those that are new to our team or didn't take part last year then a quick breakdown of what the Chimps challenge is:
If anyone wants to look at last years threads the links are:

    Our Official 2010 Thread - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=186233
Our CC Trash Talk Thread - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=186642
    Chimps Challenge 2010 site - http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/chimp_challenge

I think we stand a very good chance of coming pretty high this year with how much we have improved our PPD over the last 6 months :thumb:

Anyway I will shut up, lets discuss...

    2011 Chimps Challenge Rules

    1. Each team will fold for 10 days solid for the duration of the contest.

One-tenth of a percent (0.1%) of the respective team's 5-month total will be the points required to earn one (1) Chimp Point.
The team with the most Chimp Points earned at the end of the 10 days will be declared the winner.

    EVGA................................2,189,017,921 5-month total..........2,189,018 = 1 Chimp Point

The finish for the contest is Sunday, May 15th at 12pm, Pacific Daylight Time (UTC -7).

    3. The victor gets to claim the lucky jaded monkey as the prize.
Tales have been told of untold wealth and fame that comes with this.
The victorious team is allowed to display in any honorary fashion the jaded monkey, the losing teams are forbidden to display it.
The losing teams are bestowed the dreaded monkey's paw, which is said to be cursed.
People have been known for have very bad luck with this paw!

    5. In the event of a close race, a Stanford daily_user_summary.txt file will be the official source for points information.

    6. Only team captains are allowed to make changes to rules and will be looking out for any "foul play". We should not do anything that hurts the folding project. This includes but is not limited to, priming WUs and installing clients on machines without proper permission.

    7. The official folding names are:
    OCF - T32monkeys
    MaxPC - maximum_monkey

    I'm in.

Coolamaster as Team Captain with experience
    I like CustomBitChimps
Almost certainly over 100,000 PPD, hopefully over 200,000

Can I use this as an excuse to get a GTX 590/595?

Handicaps? That's one thread I don't want to be involved in. How many posts before it devolves into bitterness and personal insults? But we have considered separating 'home' and 'work' members/machines before now.

Yes he does, anyway I'll be on the look out from now until may for some cheap as chips parts to put together a dedicated folding machine. I reckon I can do this for around £200 at most if I look on here and ebay.

A few 9600GSOs, 1000W power supply, mobo and cpu, oh and a giant fan!

I'll be in, got a new rig coming soon hopefully, with a 580 and sandy bridge i5.
Hoping for 5-10k PPD from the 580, as I won't be folding 24/7, and I'm not sure about the PPD from the i5 i will update when I get the system and can test it out :)

You'll get a lot more than 10K from the 580.

I'm definitely in, don't know what my ppd will be in 3 months as I'm planning on slowing down, but I'll try to do that after the chimps challenge.

I personally would prefer it if we didn't use the same name as last year, purely for the fact that if we did custombitchimps would be in the top 10 with 40+ mill, as it stands, it, and the other chimps challenge name will be soon pushed out the top 20, I'd prefer to see individual contributors there.

    CustomChimpBits gets my vote!

Great start people, I will get the ball rolling and start making a list in the 2nd post box I reserved with a list of people who are up for it and rough PPD.

CustomChimpBits does sound cool, will let the thread run for a while with other suggestions then we'll do a poll on this thread to pick the winning name! :D
