My motherboard only has one pci express x16 but two x8 and one x1 speed. Fed up with the perfomance of my 4850 could I install a 9800gso in one of the x8 slots just for folding? Would it slow it down too much? Thanks Mike :worried:

Having a folding card in a x8 slot is not a problem, even in a x1 slot would still get almost all the available PPD.

Having the 4850 and 9800 in the machine is much more likely to be troublesome. I think there are a few people who have managed to get ATI and NVIDIA going in the same machine, but would not recommend it myself. If you post on the main Stanford forum, there may be someone there who could give you a more useful answer.
