No fancy banners or sponsors, just a project log, so I'll get right too it.

My mission was to take this and make it shine (hence the name)

    The enclosure striped and naked

My work space, everything was going to be hand sanded :sigh: :duh:

Here it is after 60 grit, which in hind sight was too rough of grit
    [IMG]

    After 120 grit
    [IMG]

The center part after 1000 grit, I'm thinking I'll have to redo the 320 grit on this because it isn't very uniform
    [IMG]

Since my arm was pretty much nub I decided to call it quits for the day. BTW I started at 2:30 pm and stopped at 10:00 pm

    And my workspace after

    Tomorrow's another day

That's a lot of sanding. You may have the paper turned around the wrong way too.:D

Good luck with this one - i did it with a Wavemaster a while back which turned out great and contemplating doing it to an 840.

Hard work though when you're doing it by hand as you're finding but keep at it as the results will be well worth it :eeek:

No, I'm sure I was sanding, I have the filthy water to prove it

It will turn out, and if I can't get it polished just right I'll leave it at 2000 grit and make it look like the lian li super fine brushed finish

Starting out with rubbing compound, a microfiber and a good attitude
    [IMG]

After piss poor result of both hand polishing and the rubbing compound I decided to use Mother mag polish and a dremel (knock-off) with cotton tips
    [IMG]

I got dirty but also some really good results

If I'm not doing anything tomorrow I'll try to finish the outer case

    Thanks

I'll probably sand more tonight but no pics because they're kinda boring. I hope to have this project wrapped up by next weekend.

Sorry no pics (maybe later tonight) but everything is sanded down to 1000 grit on the outer case after 4 hours. This weekend should be all about polishing and getting this project wrapped up.

Another 4 hours today got me down to 1500 grit and a good start on 2000 grit. Tomorrow should warp up this project so I can start another one :thumb:

Considering it was 11pm and there wasn't a full moon, lighting was pretty poor. Here are some pics via you're request.
