    Hi All,
As of last night, I've been getting the rated 9mb speed from BT. Before this it was 3mpbs.

I keep wondering if it will drop again.

What might have caused this sudden increase?

    Cheers,
    Neal

Your exchange was updated from ADSL to ADSL 2?

Is that likely? We should have been getting this speed all along, but BT had excuses about our house wiring etc.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they have been upgrading their infrastructure.

Mine was alway pretty good at about 16, then it jumped to 21 with upload speeds normally about 6-7..

If it's going upwards and not costing you any more money, don't complain. Just enjoy it.:D

Oh I am :D, but i'm worried that its temporary. Some kind of mistake in my favour, perhaps.

Maybe they were bluffing up until now and have just upgraded your exchange. Don't question it, just enjoy it... But complain like hell if it goes back to what it was before :D

I've had the excuse of shitty house wiring, makes some sense to me. Although a sudden increase is something I've not heard of. Consider yourself lucky and as you say, complain like hell if it drops.

My speed doubled again a few hours ago. I've gone from 2.7mbps to 9mpbs, and now its at 23mbps. What the hell is going on?

If they have upgraded the exchange or done something to the better your router might be trying to resync and will fluctuate, hopefully in the upward direction, and eventually settle.

    Probably. :D

Lol. Whats strange is that during the day I have problems loading web pages sometimes. But after resetting both routers (BT Homehub is plugged into another router), it works fine. I'm guessing its on BT side. Reset both routers today and did a speedtest, and OMG what beautiful numbers I was seeing.
