It's certainly an improvement over the magazine and gun barrels of previous versions, much more tasteful.

LOL, yes I agree. Fecking awful they were. I actually like the look of this board. Imagine it with UV lighting etc.

Maybe we should post pics of what we think are the best looking mobos...

I like this one from Assrock too but if I had to choose I'd go for the Sniper cos I like the bright green UV.

For extreme gold and showing-off-ness I like this ECS thing...

Tasteful is not a word I would apply to most modern motherboard design, certainly not one with lime and black contrasts.

Tasteful compared to the sniper 2 board at least.

Edit: my whole rig is green and black themed, I must be somewhat biasEd

So show us a vintage mobo that's tasteful then :)

As I recall my old Abit IC7 Max 3 was butt ugly and all I recall from Giga and Asus are lots of boring blues....

I just noticed that the board only seems to have 6 USB ports, sure they are 3.0 ports but I would want more on such a high end board

At the back eh? I guess u have to consider the internal ones too which on a high end board should include a usb rear bracket.

Some of those ones with bare copper heatsinks are nice.

The Asus Maximus boards of yore were quite beautiful for the heatsink Aesthetics.

Edit: Did I say maximus? I meant striker. :D

I LOVE bare copper heatsinks on mobo's and wish they'd go back to them. I liked the way my p5n32-sli premium looked.

Shame it was pants for overclocking.

And without any bias at all :worried: my current mobo is a beaut!

Shame they used coloured aluminium on the nb and sb rather than proper copper.

Who cares about the looks of a board anyways? Installed into a case you don't see it anyways, when you don't have a fugly window in your doorpanel.

Some people like windows. I for one do. Sure it's not as functional, but sometimes an aesthetically pleasing thing is well...desirable. :)

A lot of the 'copper' heatsinks on some of the older boards were actually anodised aluminium. All the Asus boards I had with them were aluminium.

Wouldn't surprise me. Copper is quite heavy. And costly.
