Hello all. I'm thinking about adding a second GTX 560 Ti to my PC. I'm wondering what the minimum wattage should be for this setup. Rest of my setup is in the sig. Cheers for any suggestions!!
I think your cpu is already a bottleneck even with 1 GTX 560 Ti. I doubt you will see any performance gain from sli with that setup tbh.
While true, it's not what the OP asked. Use http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp to work it out. I'd guess around 650W? But i've not worked it out.
I ran dual 560Ti for a year on my 625w enermax PSU. That was even with the previous i7 860 at 4ghz. DX11 games like BF3 and Crysis 2 were using between 400 to 620 watts peak. The enermax barely got warm and never had issues. A good brand 625+ watt PSU should be fine. I have used Enermax for many years cos they are reliable. Even when it was fully loaded you couldn't hear the fan. The 620w peak draw was for my entire PC excluding the monitor.
A good quality 650W PSU should do you fine but personally I'd go for 750W or above. It depends how much you want to spend.
I recommend either Corsair or XFX branded PSUs (used them before + excellent warrenties) : Modular: Bit more expensive, but cuts down on cable mess. XFX 750 Corsair 750w Non-modular versions: Cheaper, but a lot more cables running every where (but not too big of a deal) Xfx 750w Corsair 750w (I use this one for my GTX 570 and it can easily manage 2)
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I already have a 750W XFX PSU. I was just wanting to make sure that I had enough grunt to run the two cards. I'm budgeting for the second part of my upgrade and wanted to know if I needed to add extra funds for a PSU. I don't. Woo! I know about the Q6660 being a bottleneck. A friend has the the same gfx card as me but he has a i7 system and gets about 20-25fps more in games like Skyrim. I'll be upgrading that first before buying the second card. Cheers again
