Okay first of all, this is my first project log so please be nice :D

I have been wanting to do this kind of thing for about a month now and decided what the hell, lets get going.

I got the idea from 2 people - Pyro and MoonPig. They have both done in my eyes amazing jobs and really inspired me to have a go at it myself.

So heres my (reeeaally bad(yes im a design noob)) early design in sketchUp of my desk that i already have.

and heres my desk for real.

Okay so the idea is to have the Mobo with hidden blue cold cathode tubes inside where the window is and almost everything else underneath, apart from a fan controller that i wanted to fix to the side. The flow of air is sucking in at the front and blowing out at the back to give a constant airflow.

Now i have actually started the Project, and i am about half way through, please tell me what you think so far.

And for those who may be interested my hardware includes

    1x M-Atx MSI G31M3-F Mobo
    1x Intel E8400 3.00Ghz Wolfdale
    1x 2GB Kingston PC6400 memory
    2x 250GB Hitachi HDD's
    1x 370w Trust PSU

    So far . . . . . .

    whats left to do
    - wire up and drill a hole for the power button to go where the fan controller is
    - fix the tray for the motherboard to sit in
    - drill a few wholes in that for cable management
    - then shove the working pc in there! :D

I will be updating on thursday, hope you all like it!
Any suggestions/constructive criticism are gladly welcome! :D

What graphics card? And I wouldn't trust that PSU. But the mod itself is looking great.

    That's really cool!

I hope you all like it! The woodwork isnt finished to a great quality but its barely noticeable and admittedly it is quite an ametuer ish job, but without being afraid to say it i am at the moment still an amateur/noob whatever! but i hope to do more projects like one.

I would like to build a HTPC case as my next project so il get designing!

Any requests for more pictures or advice for future upgrades/anything let me know! :D :dremel:

Nice concept and nicely executed. Some cable management would make the view look a bit more impressive, but overall I dig it! :thumb:

Yeah, well done! You could always dress it up a bit, like maybe spray painting the interior black and some cable sleeving (personal preference), but it's a good start to modding!

It it a Hiyatek 6 Fan Controller, i bought it from Ebuyer.com but it is now discontinued. Heres a link showing pics.. The only real downside for me with this is that the led's are too bright and i would like to somehow implement the switch that turns my cold cathodes off/on to also turn these off... somehow :worried:

Thank you for all your replies! i agree some cable management will definately be next on my list, i might consider moving my cd and hd drives around to help with this as well! :D
