Nice one, it's not easy is it.

I packed up drinking about five years back on medical advice, I went from drinking 3 litres plus of cider 7 nights week to drinking nothing over night and stayed sober for two years.

Unfortunately I've slipped off the wagon and really need to climb back on.

Thanks for the replies. It is hard as I am a true addict and have been for many years. I hope to keep this up. Hey you can always get back off the wagon. Just do it and see what happens. In certain situations I drink N/A beer. Its cheap, almost as good, just has no buzz. That doesn't work for some people, but it works for me. I am off on vacation this weekend. Lets see if I can keep this up!

Good job so far! Keep it up, there may be some down moments but if you persevere through those it only gets easier.

Congrats, addiction is a hard thing to beat. I for one wouldn't mind seeing more milestones posted-I surely don't mind encouraging someone to take control of their life and make a healthy choice.

An alcoholic teacher......great nice to know the future is in good hands.

I remember teachers when I was at school (about 13) looking down the girls blouses, bunch of horny pervs.

Actually I was a night time drinker and weekend drinker. I never used at school. My teaching is sure to get better as I am not so damned tired anymore. I get the winter "blues" and have a lamp along with medication. Not drinking my keep me from needing those meds. I have anxiety and depression also. No drinks make the depression easier but the anxiety is much worse. I have to deal with myself, be emotionally present. Thats the hardest part. Getting used to a new me socially. Now its time to tackle nicotine, maybe, soon enough.

Well done. It takes a great deal of self discipline to give something up like that.

My advice is to look for a hobby or replacement activity to through yourself into - start running for example, it's a great time to start, any time you get the itch you can grab your shoes and go.

Nice one, just take one step at a time. Let us know how you holiday goes.

I used to get the winter blues till I got and alarm clock with a day light fitted. Really makes a difference in the mornings when they're dark.
